On June 30, at approximately 11:15 a.m., a man flagged down a Lauderhill Police Department officer to report that he had just been attacked by a man armed with a knife. He pointed to 26-year-old Gregory DaSilva, who immediately fled on foot, according to DaSilva’s arrest affidavit.
At around 11:28 a.m., while the officer chased DaSilva, the Broward Sheriff’s Office dispatch advised that a man, identified as Wilford White, 68, was found with stab wounds inside a home. Lauderhill Fire Rescue rushed him to a hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead at 12:11 p.m., according to the arrest affidavit.
At around 11:38 a.m., while officers were still searching for DaSilva, another witness approached a Lauderhill officer and reported that a man with stab wounds — mostly around his neck — was lying in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead at 11:49 a.m., police say. This man was identified as Mesilien Pierre, 36.
BSO SWAT personnel did a sweep of the residence where Pierre was found. After the area was cleared, police went to the community leasing office and spoke to the property manager, who showed officers surveillance footage that showed a man, believed to be DaSilva, following a man in a wheelchair at around 11:03 a.m. The two leave the camera view and are believed to have then entered an apartment, police say. It is unclear from the heavily redacted arrest affidavit if this was White or Pierre.
DaSilva is then seen approaching a man sitting on an electrical box and is captured making stabbing motions at the man, who ran away and was later found with fatal stab wounds, police say.
At 1:22 p.m. a Lauderhill officer spotted DaSilva walking from the yard at 1740 NW 55th Avenue, according to his arrest affidavit.
“While Gregory DaSilva was walking from the residence, he made the statement it was me,” the affidavit reads. DaSilva was detained, and told officers that the weapon was inside a bag that he had been carrying. Police say they found a bloody knife and clothes inside the bag.
DaSilva was taken to Florida Medical Center “due to him not feeling well,” according to the affidavit. While at the hospital, DaSilva told a doctor that he was “hearing evil voices to murder someone,” police say. DaSilva then said he could not resist the voices and said he killed two people.

DaSilva refused to answer police questions when he was brought in for questioning and requested an attorney.
On July 5, Lauderhill officers were called to a residence to investigate the death of 51-year-old Jeffrey Standifer, who was last seen alive that morning, police say.
Standifer was later found dead that same day inside the residence. Detectives said they quickly tied his death to DaSilva.
Detectives say they believe DaSilva attacked Standifer on June 30 and that Standifer died due to the injuries the next week, said Lauderhill Police spokesperson Parys Thomas. Thomas said it is unclear at what time Standifer was attacked on June 30.
Police later interviewed a man, who said he was at work turning on sprinklers to water the grass when DaSilva, covered in blood and clutching the right side of his abdomen, approached him, police said. According to investigators, DaSilva told the man he had been stabbed and asked him to call an ambulance. However, DaSilva continued moving closer despite the man’s repeated requests for him to step back. DaSilva then pulled a knife from his pocket and went toward him.
On Wednesday, the case was presented to a Broward County grand jury, which returned an indictment against DaSilva. The grand jury indicted DaSilva on the following charges: three counts of first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, court records show.
DaSilva is jailed at the Broward County Main Jail without bond. Court records show that DaSilva is being represented by the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel.
