Created by founders Julian Hakim and Aram Baloyan, who grew up in the border region, the first Taco Stand opened in La Jolla, California in 2013. The Aventura location has taken over the former spot of Bodega Taqueria Y Tequila, which opened in 2021 but closed quietly around two years later.
There’s seating indoors for 25 diners and an outdoor patio that seats 20, but it also functions as a takeout spot for the busy city. The official opening is Oct. 1, but if you’re driving down Biscayne Boulevard on Sept. 30 don’t be afraid to stop — you will be able to grab some Mexican food as part of the soft opening.
The menu features tacos of myriad varieties: al pastor, carne asada, birria, chicken, shrimp, grilled mahi mahi.

There are also burritos and burrito bowls, quesadillas, carne asada fries, churros and the intriguing birria ramen for which the brand has become famous. There’s also a breakfast menu and imported beer (presumably not for breakfast, but no judgment).
The whole menu is available online, The Taco Stand app will be available for orders from the Aventura restaurant one week after it opens.
There are Taco Stand locations in Wynwood, South Beach, Little Havana and at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise. The Wynwood restaurant plays host to the hidden Michelin-starred Japanese omakase counter Hiden. There are also locations in Dallas, Las Vegas and across southern California.
