After being closed for more than a year, Havana Harry’s is reopening in Coral Gables.

Famous for serving Cuban comfort food for three decades, the neighborhood favorite on Le Jeune Road was forced to close after a city shutdown order in 2025.

The closure came a few months after a failed inspection, though in August 2025 the restaurant used its Instagram account to say that it was temporarily closed in order to “complete important interior upgrades.”

“These include plumbing and kitchen improvements, along with other facility enhancements — all designed to ensure the highest standards of comfort, safety, and experience for our guests and team,” the post read. “We’re working closely with the city and local authorities to move this process forward as quickly as possible.”

The restaurant re-opens on Oct. 19 with a new look — green leather booths, plants, mosaic tiles and traditional Cuban-inspired art. But what has kept customers coming since it opened in 1995 remains: big portions and affordability.

At first, Havana Harry’s will offer lunch and dinner daily, serving its longtime favorites like ropa vieja, arroz con pollo, Cuban sandwiches and croquetas and its famous chicken vaca frita. The dessert menu includes flan, tres leches and cakes as well as its popular oversized “Overdose” milkshakes.

On Dec. 1, the breakfast menu will return as well.

Centurion Restaurant Group, which also operates Bulla Gastrobar, Pisco y Nazca and Beehive Kitchen, took over the operation of Havana Harry’s in 2022. Carlos Centurion, the hospitality group’s founder, said the renovation will preserve the restaurant’s future.

“Our responsibility was never to reinvent Havana Harry’s,” he said. “It was to protect what generations of guests have loved while building a restaurant that will serve this community for many years to come.”
