But even the 78-year-old Bradshaw isn’t immune from the ugly mental health diseases that impact so many across the world, from the rich and famous to the poor and struggling.

Bradshaw, who is releasing a new memoir, opened up on his battles with depression and anxiety, that have faced him for years.

The NFL legend spoke to People and admitted that during his playing career, “you didn’t talk about it” in the locker room.

Bradshaw was officially diagnosed with depression and anxiety in the 1990s, after his playing career ended. He’s taken medication for it and it helps him.

His longtime wife, Tammy, helps him get through the tough days, too.

“She just gets me out of it. She gets my mind off of it. She frees me up,” Bradshaw told PEOPLE.

“We do something. We talk about it.”

Bradshaw wants the stigma surrounding mental health to end, especially with men.

“I may be emotional about it, but I’m totally comfortable with telling her,” he said.

“Men think that’s a weakness. I got past it being a weakness. It’s a sickness. There’s nothing wrong with admitting you’ve got issues.”

Work helps Bradshaw, too

Bradshaw might be way past the popular retirement age for many Americans, but he’s not planning on going away anytime soon.

The legendary NFL broadcaster has signed a contract with FOX that’ll take him through their next Super Bowl in 2028-29.

“I love my job,” Bradshaw told the Los Angeles Times. “This year was the first year that I got nervous. I wanted to extend my contract. So I signed through the Super Bowl. Two more years. I’ll be 80.”
