Seahawks Injury Update: Former Third-Round Pick Set to Receive First Start
The Seattle Seahawks are preparing to take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
It’s a big conference matchup that seems tougher than it did a month ago. The Cardinals were impressive in Week 1, and the Seahawks have some notable injury issues to worry about.
Zach Charbonnet is still on the PUP list, and two key starting defensive backs, Ty Okada and Nick Emmanwori, have both been banged up. Most importantly, star quarterback Sam Darnold went down in Week 1 and is expected to miss a few weeks.
This week, there was another key starter, Anthony Bradford, who was listed on the injury report. Bradford has been underwhelming as the starting right guard, but it’s still not ideal to miss any starters.
On Saturday, the Seahawks officially ruled Bradford OUT for this contest. In his place, a former third-round pick is set to get his first NFL start.
Christian Haynes to Start For Bradford
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the Seahawks are set to give Christian Haynes the start at right guard.
The Seahawks elevated S Rodney Thomas II off their practice squad for their game tomorrow at Arizona. They also downgraded RG Anthony Bradford to out. Christian Haynes will start on his place.

Haynes has appeared in 25 games over his first three seasons in the league, but he’s mostly appeared on special teams. The lineman has impressed in practice and previous training camps, though, and he finally gets his shot here.
You never want to see someone get injured, but it’s also a little exciting to see Haynes get his shot. Bradford was not good in 2025 and was the obvious weak link of the team’s line. The guard entered this season on the hot seat, but he was able to hold off Haynes and Beau Stephens for the job.
PFF gave Bradford a 50.5 grade for his Week 1 performance, which ranked 51st out of 63 qualified guards. Most concerningly, Bradford was legitimately the worst pass blocker in the league in Week 1, earning a putrid 3.1 grade.
The Cardinals will be a tough matchup for Haynes, but it’s hard to imagine him being any worse as a pass blocker than Bradford was last week.
