Adam Jackson, 48, was arrested Monday in connection to the bloody attack at Dollar Store & Up, located at 2234 NW 62nd St., just outside Liberty City. A 76-year-old man and a good Samaritan who rushed to the man’s aid were injured, according to authorities.

Jackson, who is facing attempted murder and aggravated battery charges, appeared in bond court on Tuesday morning. A judge ruled that he be held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.

Shortly after noon on Monday, Jackson entered the store, wielding a rusted lawnmower blade, according to his arrest report. He charged at the first man when he was turned around — and slammed the blade into the man’s head several times.

The man, who had several injuries to the back of his head, turned around to face Jackson, the report says. He raised his right hand to block a further attack but was again struck with the blade.

The good Samaritan stepped in to stop Jackson’s attack, and Jackson turned the weapon on him, according to the report. Despite being sliced, the good Samaritan was able to restrain Jackson until deputies arrived on the scene.

While he was pinned to the ground, Jackson shouted, “Now I’m going to kill you too,” to the good Samaritan, the report states.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the store and arrested Jackson. According to the report, they also collected the rusted blade as evidence.

The victim was taken to an emergency room for injuries to his head and hand, the report says. The good Samaritan, who sustained head injuries, was treated on the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
