Traffic alert: Roads reopen after ‘suspicious canister’ shut down roads

A “suspicious canister” that shut down a stretch of road in downtown Miami on Tuesday morning has since been cleared.

At around 9:20 a.m., a call came in about a canister near the Federal Detention Center located 33 NE 4th St, police say.

Shortly after 10 a.m., Miami Police posted on X advising drivers to avoid the area of northwest first avenue to northeast first avenue between third and sixth streets.

An investigation by the bomb squad quickly cleared the canister and roads have since reopened.
