Kewan Lacy Injury Update Emerges After Ole Miss’ Win Over LSU

Ole Miss left Saturday’s 32-24 win over LSU with an injury situation to monitor after running back Kewan Lacy exited during the second half.

Lacy suffered a shoulder injury with 7:09 remaining in the third quarter after being tackled by TJ Dottery. He went to the medical tent and later headed to the locker room. Lacy didn’t return to the game afterward.

The first postgame update, however, brought encouraging news from Ole Miss coach Pete Golding, who

“He banged up his shoulder,” Golding said. “They went in and X-rayed it. It was negative on the X-ray. They padded him up. He was going to try to fight through it, but at that point JT (Lindsey) was playing really well. … I know we’ll get some more information tomorrow.”

Lacy finished with nine carries for 43 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for minus-2 yards. Ole Miss finished with 63 rushing yards, with Lacy accounting for 43 before leaving the game.

The injury comes after Lacy was also banged up during Ole Miss’ Week 1 win over Louisville. He missed part of the second half with a leg injury before returning to play against Charlotte in Week 2.

Lacy entered this season after rushing for 1,567 yards and setting a school record with 24 rushing touchdowns in 2025. So far this season, he’s rushed for 191 yards on 39 attempts, scoring four touchdowns.

Sophomore transfer JT Lindsey handled the backup role against LSU with junior Makhi Frazier unavailable. Lindsey finished with four carries for 20 yards and caught one pass for eight yards.

Ole Miss is expected to learn more about Lacy’s shoulder after evaluation Sunday, per Golding. That said, the negative X-ray provided the first encouraging development, although the Rebels’ head coach did not provide a definitive status for the running back’s next game.

The Rebels travel to Gainesville to face Florida next Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
