Fever Star Caitlin Clark Reacts to Stephanie White’s Unexpected Coaching Comment

Caitlin Clark responded to Stephanie White’s comment after their game against the Toronto Tempo on Friday.

The Fever picked up where they left off before the 17-day WNBA World Cup break, blowing out Toronto 103-85 on the road.

But it was anything but an easy victory, as the Fever faced adversity during the game. The Tempo have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but they made sure to give the visiting Fever side a proper challenge on Friday night.

During her postgame interview, Clark broke down her team’s shortcomings against Toronto.

“I think for us, limiting turnovers, limiting fouls,” Clark said. “I felt like that was a big issue tonight. … And then third, we’ve got to stop letting just teams get [offensive] boards.

“I don’t know, Steph has probably the number of how many points they scored off of turnovers, fouling, and offensive rebounds. That was the game right there.

“If we would have cleaned up those areas and maybe even just cut it in half, it’s a much more comfortable win. It’s probably just pure domination, so I think for us down the stretch those three things are going to be most important.”

White, sitting right beside Clark during the press conference, couldn’t help but react to her superstar’s comments.

“She sounds like a coach,” quipped White, drawing laughs from the media.

Clark quickly responded to her coach’s unexpected statement.

“I’m just repeating what you said after the game,” Clark replied.

The three-time All-Star finished the game with a double-double of 28 points and 14 assists. Clark bumped up her average to 8.5 assists per game, which is now No. 1 in the WNBA.

She also tied her single-season double-double total at 14, which she set during her rookie season in 2024.

Clark and Co. have three regular-season games remaining as they push for a higher seed heading into the playoffs. They return to action on Sunday at home against the Washington Mystics.
