The 2026 Singapore Grand Prix weekend is underway at Marina Bay Street Circuit, with Max Verstappen starting from the pole position after an eventful Sprint Qualifying session on Friday. The Red Bull driver will lead the field at the venue’s first-ever 21-lap Sprint race as Formula 1’s biggest names look to gain an early advantage.
Verstappen’s pole also came amid a stewards’ investigation after he overtook Hamilton under yellow flags during Sprint Qualifying. The FIA ruled that the Dutchman breached the regulations but imposed no penalty, allowing him to retain pole.
Meanwhile, George Russell qualified second for Mercedes, putting himself in a strong position to challenge Verstappen at the start. Charles Leclerc secured third for Ferrari, while McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris completed the top five. Lewis Hamilton will start sixth for Ferrari, ahead of Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli in seventh. Liam Lawson, Isack Hadjar, and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top 10, setting up an intriguing battle for the Sprint points.

With overtaking often difficult around Marina Bay due to its tight and narrow street circuit akin to Monaco, the opening lap and pit-wall strategy could prove decisive. The Sprint offers the leading drivers an early opportunity to score points and build momentum ahead of qualifying later today.
