A three-hour standoff at a Miami high-rise has ended, police say

After a three-hour standoff, a man was taken to the hospital Monday morning after holing himself up in an apartment at a Miami high-rise, police said.

Officers, including members of the tactical team, arrived at the building at 700 NE 24th St., around 7:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire, police said.

The address belongs to the Aria Reserve condo complex in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.

The man locked himself inside, leading to hours of negotiations from officers trying to persuade him to surrender, police said.

Officer Kiara Delva, a police spokeswoman, said one person was detained and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The nature of the man’s injuries was not released.

According to police radio, the incident ended just before 11 a.m.

Police have not released any other details.
