Earlier this year, global superstar Bad Bunny took the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and made history as the most-watched performance globally.

Now, based on the most recent shows, this year’s announcement is seemingly behind schedule as 6 in 7 of past performers were named in September. Here’s what we know about the next Super Bowl headliner.

Who selects the Super Bowl halftime headliner?

Rap legend Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, has chosen the halftime performer since 2020. The year before, through his entertainment company, Roc Nation, the emcee inked a deal with the NFL to serve in an advisory role to help select music for the league’s flagship events, such as the Super Bowl.

According to a July 2026 report from Kalshi, a prediction and betting platform, traders expect Jay-Z himself, Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus to be picked to headline the show.

USA TODAY reached out to the NFL and Roc Nation for more information.

Halftime performers of the 2020s and their announcements

Throughout the 2020s, the Super Bowl halftime performers were announced the September before the event, except for The Weeknd, who notably performed amid the pandemic.
