When will Tyreek Hill return to NFL? Ex-Dolphins WR’s agent says soon

Tyreek Hill might be close to a return.

The ex-Miami Dolphins receiver’s agent Drew Rosenhaus will begin the process of finding a new team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. One team that has remained in contact with Hill: the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I would anticipate Tyreek potentially signing with a team over the next few days,” Rosenhaus told Schefter.

This comes a little more than a year after Hill dislocated his knee and tore several ligaments, including his ACL, during a Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets. The Dolphins would subsequently release him at the end of the season.

Since then, Hill has been rehabbing as well as learning how to djay. Both the star receiver and Rosenhaus maintained that he would once again return to the football field.

“It’s about rehab, and he will play next season,” Rosenhaus told Schefter at the time, adding that another surgery will not be needed. “The realistic goal is the start of the season.”

A potential return gained even further steam after a stream of Hill posts.

“It’s almost time to get off the couch and get to work,” Hill tweeted Sept. 28 alongside a holding back tears emoji.

A few days later, another tweet hit the internet.

“I think I’m ready for some cold weather,” Hill said on Wednesday.

The signing with the Chiefs would make sense for a myriad of reasons. It was the Chiefs, after all, that selected him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He would play the first six seasons of his career in Kansas City, racking up six Pro Bowls, three All-Pros and a Super Bowl ring before being ultimately traded to the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 season.

Put Hill’s connection with the Chiefs aside from a moment and even still the signing would be beneficial for a team that still has Super Bowl aspirations. That’s because Kansas City lost two receivers—Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice—to injury Sunday. Thorton dislocated his ankle and will be out indefinitely, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, while Rice suffered a right hamstring injury that prevented him from returning to Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Time will tell wherever Hill ends up. But after a career in Kansas City that produced one of the most prolific offenses that the NFL had ever seen, a Chiefs reunion doesn’t sound all too bad for those with a soft spot for that side of the ball.
