Dolphins WR Caleb Douglas (ankle) returns to practice in Week 7
The Miami Dolphins will have their top wide receiver back at practice.
Caleb Douglas returned Monday morning on a limited basis, per coach Jeff Hafley.
“It will be good to get him back out there,” Hafley said. “Just kind of looking back through the last couple of weeks, and some of the things that he did, we’ve missed him and to see a rookie have to stop and start like that, not ideal, but he’s worked really hard. It’d be great to get him back.”

Douglas hasn’t played since he injured his ankle during the Dolphins’ Week 2 35-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It’s still unclear whether he will suit up Sunday against the New York Jets.
“We’ll be very excited if we can get him back and get him going this week, especially just looking back and seeing what he was able to do and what he brings to the offense,” Hafley said. “He hasn’t played football in a while, so he’s going to need to get back and get the rust off and get back into the rhythm of playing. So hopefully it doesn’t take too much time. Hopefully he was locked in mentally, like I’m sure that he was, because I watched him closely, and I know he did a good job with the strength staff.”
As far as other injuries go, cornerback JuJu Brents (stinger) and right guard Jonah Savaiinaea (ankle) will also return to practice on a limited basis.
Safety Kyle Louis, who has been out since sustaining a knee injury during the 27-13 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1, could potentially return this week as well, according to Hafley. Louis has been on injured reserve since Sept. 16.
“Hopefully, we’ll get him back Wednesday and we’ll see how he is,” Hafley said.
Happy returns
Electric. Stud. Energy.
These were the words used to describe Douglas following his return to practice.
“Caleb’s a stud,” tight end Greg Dulcich said. “His first catch was that one-handed one so we know what he can do. We know what kind of juice he brings to the offense.”
“It was good,” Dulcich added when asked about how Douglas looked at practice. “He was making plays as usual.”

Left tackle Patrick Paul echoed Dulcich sentiments.
“He’s an electric player,” Paul said. “He brings energy in the huddle every time. He’s a different type of rookie—tall, fast, great receiver. Having him back, it’s going to definitely add some more to us.”
Jets connection
The Dolphins will open up AFC East play Sunday with a matchup against the New York Jets.
While i wi’ll be Hafley’s first divisional game, he’s actually extremely familiar with some of the people within the organization, including coach Aaron Glenn.
“Aaron Glenn and I worked together,” Hafley said “We were on the staff in Cleveland. We coached DBs together, it was his first two years, actually, coaching. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him, his family, and he’s done a really good job on defense this year. He’s got the defense playing well.”
The same goes for Jets star receiver Garrett Wilson.
“I was with Garrett at Ohio State for his freshman year,” Hafley said, “so I have a lot of respect for him and all the things that he’s been able to do throughout his career.”
