But nobody was better-positioned to actually find out what was going on than Jimmy Fallon, who interviewed Cruise this week and asked the multiple-time Oscar nominee about his meeting with Swift. Cruise bluntly said that Swift was “schooling me on football.”

When pressed on the subject, Cruise explained that Swift was talking football with him a lot and she allowed him to have a fun time at the first live NFL game he’s attended since the pre-pandemic years.

“She was bringing the football. First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid. Everybody there, all their friends, they’re a beautiful couple and magical in their own right. Everybody there in that booth,” Cruise said.

“I hadn’t been to a football game since pre-Covid, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot of fun… she knows her stuff.”

Cruise & Swift

On top of discussing their passions for film and music, Cruise said that Swift also spoke to him about not knowing anything at football prior to meeting her husband, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“She said, ‘You know, he’s so patient,’” Cruise shared, laughing, “I said, ‘I’m sure he was.’ I think everybody would be very patient [with her].”

He further complimented Swift on her sense of humor and writing talent.

“She’s funny. She’s got such a great sense of humor. A brilliant writer also, by the way. Brilliant musician and director. Very skilled.”
