This popular Italian pizza brand closes its restaurant in Brickell

A popular pizza and pasta spot from Italy has closed in Brickell.

Piola, the concept created by Italian brothers Stefano and Dante Carniato in 1986, has announced the closing of its Brickell restaurant at 1250 S. Miami Ave.

The brand, which has restaurants on three continents, announced the closing on its social media accounts.

“Thank you to everyone who walked through our doors, gathered around our tables, celebrated with us, and made this location so special,” the Instagram post said. “We’re grateful for every memory made here.”

The brand was quick to assure fans its other South Florida restaurants remained open in Miami Beach, Doral, Hollywood, Hallandale and Weston, and that plans to open a new location in Fort Lauderdale are still underway.

The restaurant is schedule to open this year at 221 SW First Ave., near Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale.

The first Piola opened in the Carniatos’ hometown of Treviso, Italy. The brothers went on to open locations in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Sao Paolo, Brazil, before opening in Miami Beach.
