Natalie Chaabouk-Beltran, a student-athlete at Riviera Preparatory School in Miami, represented Venezuela at the 2026 U21 Pan American Cup in Columbus, Ohio.

Although Natalie was born in the United States, she proudly represented her Venezuelan heritage, while competing on an international stage against some of the top young volleyball players in the Americas.

Natalie is a senior at Riviera Prep, where she plays varsity volleyball as setter/right side. In the classroom, she has earned a 5.5 weighted GPA, reflecting her dedication to academics as well as athletics.

In addition to her high school volleyball career, Natalie has competed at a high level in club and national volleyball. For the upcoming club season, she will be playing with Tribe Volleyball Club in Florida.

At the U21 Pam American Cup, Venezuela brought a very young team, with players between age 15 and 17. The main purpose of participating in the U21 tournament was to give the girls international experience and valuable playing time, as several of them are preparing to compete in the U19 South American Championship in October in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

Riviera Prep is 3-1 this season, defeating St. Brendan, Carrollton and Florida Christian, all in straight sets. The lone loss for the Bulldogs was to Archbishop McCarthy in straight sets.

Somerset Silver Palms d. Marathon 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-18): Ella Alicea (Sr.) 12 kills, 4 aces, 9 digs; Sofia Osborne (Soph.) 17 assists, 4 aces; Leilani Gonzalez (Sr.) 9 kills, 6 aces, 4 digs.

Golf

A record was set while Carrollton defeated Ransom Everglades and Lourdes in a 9-hole girls’ golf match at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

The Cyclones scored 144, edging Ransom Everglades by two strokes. Lourdes shot 165.

Carrollton was led by a school record-setting 5-under par 30 from Petra Compton, who had five birdies and four pars en route to medalist honors. Teammate Fernanda Carrion and Ransom’s Esha Nagalla tied for second at 1-under 34. Nina Fischer of Ransom Everglades was 4th with 1-over 36.

Compton, a senior, will play golf collegiately for FIU.

Cross-country

The Doral Academy cross-country program proved to be one of the top all-around programs in the state at the 13th annual Florida Horse Park Invitational in Ocala.

The Firebirds placed fifth of 66 teams in the boys’ division, and the girls were seventh of 49 teams.

The boys were led by Martin Fernandez, who was ninth of 544 runners, covering 3.1-miles in 16 minutes 1 second. Teammate Rafaele D’Agostino was 50th at 16:47.

For the girls’ team, Nicole Lewis finished fifth of 412 runners in 18:43. Teammate Madison Chin was 25th in 19:44.

Football

American QB Kenny Duckhardt was 16-of-31 for 258 yard and 4 touchdowns in a 33-25 victory over host North Miami.

Abdul Hopkins keyed the defense. The senior DB totaled 9 solo tackles and 5 assists and made 3 interceptions, including a key Pick-6 (54 yards) to put the Patriots ahead 33-25 in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

Ransom Everglades improved to 3-0 with a 24-14 win over visiting Doral Academy.

Archbishop Carroll 14, Coral Gables 7: Offensively, the visiting Bulldogs rushed for 333 yards on 47 carries. Marcelo Carrion and Rodney Zamora each scored. Justin Matias led the way with 114 yards on 18 carries. Dylan Galadza added 96 yards rushing and made 3 tackles. More defensively, Archbishop Carroll was led by the linebacking quartet of Isaiah Suarez, Joel Rodriguez, Coleman Quesada and Kendru Pembleton. Safety Lucas Ramirez provided a crucial sack in the third quarter. The Bulldogs will host American (3-0) on Thursday afternoon. AC 1-1, CG 1-2.

Swimming

BOYS: Coral Gables 74, Cutler Bay 34: Santiago Fernandez-Arce led Coral Gables by placing 1st in the 200 individual medley. For Cutler Bay, Santiago Balbisportal placed second in the 50 free and helped the medley relay finish first.

GIRLS: Cutler Bay 60, Coral Gables 36: Ellie Jackson led Culter Bay. For Coral Gables, Sasha Goron placed 1st in the 100 free.
