A woman who police say left her 3-year-old son alone at a Doral Airbnb as she underwent cosmetic surgery changed her plea on Monday and got six months probation.

Jessica Renteria, 27, pleaded no contest, meaning she did not admit guilt, to a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. Renteria received a withhold of adjudication, meaning no criminal conviction will appear on her record.

Renteria’s change of plea was not the result of her striking a deal with prosecutors. Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge David Young meted out Renteria’s sentence.

On June 27, 2024, police were called to APEX at Central Park, a condo complex located at 7905 N.W. 104th Ave. in Doral. A resident told officers she found a 3-year-old boy wandering the area alone, according to Renteria’s arrest report.

The resident said she discovered the child sleeping on the ground outside her doorstep.

When officers identified the child’s mother they called Renteria, and she said she left the child because she was getting cosmetic surgery, according to the report. Police also confirmed Renteria was renting a unit at the complex through Airbnb.

Video footage captured Renteria exiting the unit shortly after 10 a.m. At around 1 p.m., the boy opened the front door and could be seen walking up and down the hallway.

Police were called to the complex at 4 p.m., six hours after Renteria left the boy alone inside the unit, according to the report.

Renteria was arrested at 305 Plastic Surgery, 10305 NW 58th St. in Doral, which is just under two miles away from the condo complex, according to the report.

When police responded to the cosmetic surgery center, Renteria told them she asked a friend to watch the boy. But when officers contacted her friend, he said he wasn’t told to take care of the child, the report says.
