Joe Burrow Injury Update: Bengals QB Practiced Friday Ahead of Week 2
Joe Burrow dealt with back tightness following the Week 1 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which lingered through the week. He was limited Wednesday and Thursday, but the Bengals never indicated that the injury was expected to keep him out. Burrow said he expected to play Sunday.

According to the latest reports, Burrow participated on Friday and is trending toward playing against Houston. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Burrow was good to go, while Tee Higgins also said the quarterback looked better and did more work Thursday than Wednesday. The official injury report had still listed him as limited through Thursday.
The Bengals opened the season with a 33-27 win over the Buccaneers. Burrow completed 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards and one touchdown, one interception, while adding 20 rushing yards on five carries.
Burrow has consistently emphasized his commitment to staying on the field. He told NDTV reporters, “That’s ridiculous. I think every game is so important to me. I’m going to do what it takes to be out there. If I’m not getting surgery, I’ll be out there.”
That mindset matters Sunday because Houston brings Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter off the edge.

Texans Problems Bengals Must Attack in Week 2
Houston’s defense must prove its Week 1 was an outlier. They gave up 409 yards and 36 points to Buffalo. Their defense made some late plays, but Allen repeatedly created problems with his arm and legs. Cincinnati will need Burrow to keep Houston under pressure without giving Anderson and Hunter easy chances to attack.
While Burrow gives Cincinnati the veteran poise to execute that strategy, the Bengals’ offensive line faces a stern challenge against Houston’s edge rushers. Compounding Houston’s issues, star receiver Nico Collins remains questionable after suffering a hamstring injury that limited him Wednesday and kept him out Thursday.
C.J. Stroud completed 26 of 38 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns against Buffalo, yet two fumbles, including a late game, ending strip-sack, undermined Houston’s scoring drives. To secure a road victory, the Bengals must stifle Houston’s rushing attack and force Stroud into predictable passing situations.
