So, Dolphins fans, how’re you dealing this Monday morning, the day after the local NFL team sunk to 0 for 5 this season with Sunday’s loss to the Bengals?

Lingering at the ventanita the way Malik Willis lingers in the pocket before taking a sack? Sipping cafecito? Taking a little longer to decide what to have for breakfast because you see bagels and think “my team had zero sacks the first three games?”
Nobody carries Sunday’s NFL games into Monday’s business day like Dolphins fans, according to a survey of 2,004 NFL fans by Casino.org through the Prolific online platform. And, the website polled those folks in August, before Dolphins fans knew the pain of losing to the Vikings without allowing a touchdown or Chop Robinson materializing just in time for an untimely penalty.

Those 2,004 NFL fans were asked how many regular season games they watched; how much they spent on food and drinks on Sunday; how much they spent recovering on Monday; what fans would consider recovery behaviors; their Monday fatigue and productivity at work, including how much their work was disrupted. By Casino.org’s metrics, Dolphins’ fans rank No. 3 overall in Monday Morning Recovery behind Los Angeles Chargers fans to whom Dolphins fans passed the baton for complaining about Mike McDaniel; and Cleveland Browns fans (if you need an explanation, you’re in the wrong part of the website.). On a scale of 0 to 100, Chargers fans scored 81.8, well ahead of Cleveland’s 67.9 and the Dolphins fandom’s 65.9.
But, Dolphins fans ranked No. 1 in letting Sunday mess with their Monday. Dolphins fans led all over fan bases in admitting to taking personal time off after an NFL Sunday (29.2%); admitting Sunday disrupts their Monday workday (45.8%); and buying an extra coffee on Monday (45.8%). To be fair, cafecito culture gives Dolphins fans an edge in that category.
Other ways Dolphins fans deal on Monday is showing up to work late (29.2%, again arriving everywhere on Miami time gives Dolphins fans an edge there) or eating breakfast outside the home (29%).
Give yourself a break this week, Dolphins fans. You have to — the Dolphins get to rest with a bye week, then look at their next possible first win, a date with the New York Jets.
