Fort Lauderdale cops were breaking up a fight when gunshot sent man to the hospital
Officers are investigating Sunday after a man was shot overnight in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

Police were in the area of Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest 2nd Street breaking up a fight when they heard a gunshot around 3:45 a.m., Fort Lauderdale Police Department spokesperson Kerri Hagerty said. Officers detained multiple people and found a gun; but they didn’t find anyone who had been hit.
“A short time later, an adult male arrived at Plantation General Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound,” Hagerty said. “The victim has declined to cooperate with police.”

The investigation is ongoing, he said, and no additional information was immediately available.
