On Friday night, there was a crash on Lakeville Road in Orange County. A man who was involved ran away, according to FHP, but a trooper on scene found him. The troopers said he wasn’t obeying their orders.

“The Trooper deployed his taser, and the suspect continued to resist,” the FHP said. “After several taser deployments, the suspect continued to resist arrest, resulting in the Trooper discharging his firearm, striking the suspect.”

He was arrested and taken to a nearby hospital. An agency spokesperson, Madison Kessler, confirmed Sunday the man “is alive,” but any additional questions about the incident should be directed to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

“As is the normal protocol for an officer involved shooting, FDLE is conducting a use of force investigation, and we will have no further comment at this time,” the statement said.
