Father turns in son after shooting injures 16-year-old boy: Miami-Dade deputies

An 18-year-old was turned in by his father after he allegedly shot a 16-year-old boy and tried to shoot the teen’s friend who was trying to save him Thursday, authorities say.

Misael Algel Aguilar Santurio, 18, is facing two counts of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm, his arrest report read. As of Friday, he was still in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Around 6:30 p.m., Aguilar Santurio and four others were sitting in his black Ford truck in the area of Southwest 203rd Street and 129th Avenue.

While inside, the 16-year-old told deputies Aguilar Santurio pointed a gun at one of his friends in the truck. The teen tried to disarm him but failed and ran out of the vehicle instead, the report read.

Aguilar Santurio shot at the teen several times, wounding him in the “lower extremities.” One of the three still in the truck grabbed the man from behind to try to stop him from shooting at the teen. However, Aguilar Santurio turned his gaze to the other three and shot once in their direction, but missed.

Once the wounded boy shouted that he had been shot, the trio got out of the truck and tried to help him. Aguilar Santurio sped off.

The teen was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center, where he is in stable but critical condition, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said.

On Friday, sheriff’s deputies were called by Aguilar Santurio’s father, who wanted to turn him in and hand over the gun. Authorities searched the home, found the gun and arrested the 18-year-old.
