Farm Store in West Kendall catches fire with person inside, fire rescue says

Officials are investigating after a West Kendall Farm Stores location, known as La Vaquita, became partially engulfed in flames Tuesday morning, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

One person was inside the store when the fire started around 7 a.m. and was able to safely get out, MDFR said. They didn’t require medical attention at a hospital.

When crews responded to the business, located near the 15000 block of Southwest 56th Street, they deployed hose lines, MDFR said. The fire was extinguished as of Tuesday afternoon.

Officials reminded the public about the importance of knowing how to safely exit during a fire emergency.

“Whether you’re at home, at work, or somewhere you often visit, take a moment to identify at least two ways out,” MDFR said in a statement. “Having a second exit gives you another option if your usual way out is blocked by fire or smoke.”
