Bills Get Encouraging Injury Updates on DJ Moore, Ed Oliver
The Buffalo Bills got a pair of encouraging injury updates Sunday morning.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, wide receiver DJ Moore and defensive tackle Ed Oliver are both considered day-to-day with a chance to return in Week 3 following their injuries Thursday night. He added that Moore is expected to practice during the week.

Moore, 29, rushed for a 1-yard loss and had zero receptions on his 23 snaps before exiting Thursday’s game late in the second quarter. He was diagnosed with an AC joint sprain, according to Rapoport, which typically carries a 10-day return timeline when it is a Grade 1 injury.
Acquired in an offseason trade with the Chicago Bears, Moore has quickly formed chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen. The ninth-year wideout caught five passes for 100 yards, including a highlight-reel 43-yard touchdown, during Buffalo’s Week 1 victory over the Houston Texans.

Oliver, meanwhile, was ruled inactive shortly before Thursday’s home opener against the Detroit Lions after sustaining a hip injury during pregame warmups. Bills head coach Joe Brady said the 28-year-old defensive tackle was in the training room getting evaluated about three minutes before the deadline to submit the 48-man game-day roster, forcing him to make a quick decision.

“If it was normal maybe you’d have an hour or so to run some tests and see what happens,” Brady said. “We didn’t have that time. We just had to make the decisions.”
Oliver missed 14 regular season games and one playoff game last season due to ankle, bicep and meniscus injuries. Through eight seasons, the standout defender has accumulated 30 sacks and 57 tackles for loss. He recorded five tackles and recovered a fumble in Week 1 against Houston.
Rapoport described Oliver’s injury as “hip spasms” Sunday, which had not previously been reported. Brady said Friday that he is holding off on making prognoses until the team can see what rest does for both starters. Buffalo does not have to share an injury report until Wednesday.
With or without Moore and Oliver in the lineup, the Bills aim to improve their record to 3-0 next Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Chargers for a 1 p.m. ET start.
