Perez Hilton’s team releases statement after alarming livestream in Miami

Hours after celebrity blogger Perez Hilton appeared to be engaging in self-harm in an alarming livestream Tuesday night, his camp is providing a little more information.

A statement from his “family and team” on Hilton’s eponymous website Wednesday afternoon thanked fans and provided a brief update.

“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” began the message. “We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being. We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”

Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Hilton’s Westchester home around 7 p.m. after multiple 911 calls came in from folks watching the graphic TikTok Live.

Video taken by a neighbor and posted on Only in Dade show squad cars outside, with an officer commanding “Mario” to come outside via a megaphone. The social media personality’s birth name is Mario Lavendeira Jr.

The sometime actor (”Glee,” “The Sopranos”) was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, authorities told the Miami Herald.

The extent of the Belen Jesuit alum’s injuries is unclear.

Hilton had relocated from Las Vegas back home to Miami a little under two months ago with his mother and three young kids, born via surrogate.

The cross-country move was prompted by a serious health scare back in March when Hilton was hospitalized for 21 days with sepsis caused by a perforated ulcer. The Internet pioneer, 48, also suffered blood-clot complications.

The near-death experience caused Hilton to look inward and seek religion, he told his followers, adding he wanted to be closer to family and friends in his hometown. But in a lengthy YouTube confessional, Hilton revealed he left Miami 30 years ago in part due to trauma he endured there.

Most significantly, during the summer when he was 15, both his grandfather and father died within a week of each other. Hilton also complained about feeling “unsafe” growing up as a gay teenager.

An insider told TMZ that his mother was unhappy in Sin City and was the one who pushed for them to go back, and he would have been happy to stay.

“We’re told having to rebuild his career and establish a new home base proved difficult, causing Perez to second guess the move,” the outlet reports.
