Manhunt in fatal shooting concludes after fifth shooter walks into jail: BSO

A North Lauderdale shooting that left a man dead and another injured in May saw its fifth arrest in the capture of one of the shooters and getaway driver on Sunday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Broward deputies had announced a manhunt for Matthew Holloway just last week.

Holloway is accused of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and other charges, BSO said.

Holloway turned himself into the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Monticello on Sunday, deputies said. He is expected to be extradited to the Broward County Main Jail in the coming days.

During the early morning hours of May 8, four people were sitting inside a 2020 Ford Mustang in the 7900 block of Southwest Seventh Court: O’Mari Doe, 19; Maurice Vorroto, 20; and two other people not named, the sheriff’s office said.

A black Honda Accord drove up to them and out came Holloway; Aamir Adams, 19; Anthony Adams, 18; and two juveniles, ages 15 and 16. All armed with handguns, they fired at the Mustang, shooting into it multiple times. They then sped away, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities found Doe hurt inside the car with gunshot wounds, and Vorroto suffering from a single gunshot outside of it. They were taken to Broward Health North Hospital, deputies said.

Doe died.

The Honda Accord, driven by Holloway according to a witness, was spotted by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and a pursuit ensued. The group jumped out the car and four were later arrested, but Holloway escaped.
