Students had a surprise visitor — Kendall Jenner, who popped in to their classroom, looking way collegiate in an all-white outfit and sweater around her neck.
The 30-year-old “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star was there to talk about what it was like running her 818 Tequila, which launched in 2021. The name refers to the area code in Calabasas, California, where her famous family built their empire. The booze is hand‑crafted in Jalisco, Mexico, made from 100 percent blue Weber agave.
The spirit company’s Instagram page shared a video of the moment people realized who their special guest was and began freaking out when Jenner walked in unannounced.
You could hear a lot of nervous giggles, gasps, “Oh my Gods,” and a few curse words as Jenner laughed and made her way to the podium.
UM professor Carlos Erban explained on LinkedIn that students had just been listening to a presentation by 818 chief marketing officer (CMO) Kathleen Braine, and had no idea they would be meeting the founder.

The reality star “articulated the branding strategy that she had envisioned, building a team of industry experts, and how she is involved in all marketing and social media elements, resulting in the fastest growing tequila brand in the U.S.,” Erban wrote, adding, “She answered many questions from our students, and of course a lot of selfies!”
A fan page on X, formerly Twitter, showed Jenner stuck around, walking around the leafy grounds of the Coral Gables institution.
This wasn’t the first time Jenner made a trip to a South Florida campus. In 2024, the supermodel joined Hailey Bieber, who owns Rhode beauty line, as guest speakers at Florida International University. The ladies were invited by clubstaurateur David Grutman for his class at Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management in North Miami Beach, where he teaches the tricks of the trade.
Grutman also happens to co-own Gekko in Brickell with Bad Bunny, Jenner’s ex.
It’s unclear what else the Hulu personality did while in town, but we are fairly certain the tony steakhouse was not on the list. Jenner stepped out the next night in L.A. almost 3,000 miles away at the Academy Museum Gala with her new boyfriend, “Euphoria” hunk Jacob Elordi.
