The fight began when the man who ended up being shot was confronted by the brother of his ex-girlfriend about allegedly hitting his sister, according to police.

The incident happened near the intersection of Northwest 47th Avenue and 183rd Street shortly before 1 p.m.

During the fight, another man intervened to help the woman’s brother, and the man accused of hitting the woman pulled out a gun and began firing.

Then, another man pulled out a gun and shot the armed man, who ran to a nearby CVS, where officers found him, Officer Diana Delgado, a Miami Gardens police spokeswoman, said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics took him to a hospital to be treated for “non-life-threatening injuries,” Delgado said.

Police have not released the names of anyone involved, and it’s not clear if there have been any arrests. Delgado said the incident remains under investigation.
