How Guerdy Abraira watched ‘epic’ Knicks game thanks to hotel’s clutch move
The right place at the right time.
Guerdy Abraira had no way of knowing she would be experiencing a historic moment in sports when she was in New York City Wednesday night. Or appear in a spread in Gotham’s paper of record, The New York Times, for that matter.

As per the Gray Lady’s article, “The Real Housewives of Miami” star had been invited to an elite event celebrating a Substack newsletter on “cultural capital” called “Rich People S–.”
Abraira shared a screenshot of the article on Instagram with the caption, “Bringing the HEAT to NY… What a night.”
About that night: The Bravolebrity, her husband, Russell, and other subscribers gathered at a boutique hotel in SoHo called The Manner for a candelit affair full of cocktails, charcuterie and caviar. But the local couple, as well as some of the guests which included author Candace Bushnell, restaurateur Mario Carbone and influencer Ashley St. Clair, wanted to catch the action happening two miles north at Madison Square Garden.
The stakes were high: The New York Knicks needed to beat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the NBA Finals to get closer to the title. Spoiler alert: They did in, dramatic fashion with seconds to go on the clock.
The prickly issue? The Manner’s upscale lounge Sloane’s is the opposite of a Flanagan’s. There were no TVs in sight; not even the rooms have them (the hotel is too “refined” for something so commonplace, the Times article notes).
But just as the game was about to start, the staff realized the gravitas of the situation and joined in the excitement too, an insider dished.
“We were going to trickle out of the party because of the conflicting time, then they rolled in a big TV,” Abraira told the Miami Herald. “I was thinking, ‘OK, wow. This is luxury. They know what’s up and how to tend to people’s needs.”

And so it all came together. The well-heeled attendees were able to enjoy the dramatic spectacle of the Knicks charging back from a 29-point deficit in the lap of luxury. And the coup de grâce: OG Anunoby’s winning tip-in from Jalen Brunson’s long-range jump shot.
“Right afterward, you could hear so much yelling and cheering from the streets,” the wedding planner recalled. “It was the echo heard around the world! Truly epic.”
The Knicks are now at the doorstep of their first championship since 1973 with Game 5 Saturday night at the Spurs’ home, the Frost Bank Center.
The Abrairas, parents of two, will indeed watch, but this time from the comfortable perch of their Miramar home.
“We’ll invite some neighbors over and probably barbecue,” said Abreira. “I like to do things spur of the moment.”
The Paris-raised Haitian native offered a “no comment” when asked for which team she was rooting, but did allow that folks often remark that their 13-year-old, six-foot-two son Liam resembles Spurs’ star defender Wembo, aka Victor Wembanyama.
Any thoughts on who will take home the Larry O’Brien championship trophy?
“Honestly, the Spurs probably should have won the other night, but the momentum is there for the Knicks now,” Abraira said. “They’ll probably take it all.”
