Does your car make you smile every time you drive it? Do you look back at it when you park it in the garage? These subjective measurements of owner satisfaction vary between individuals and are based on personal preferences. That bare-bones two-seater sports car may have a special place in your heart, but it wouldn’t get a second look from someone who prefers to waft along in silent luxury.

Consumer Reports attempts to quantify this by conducting an annual Owner Satisfaction Survey, and while the final scores include measurable aspects like performance, ride comfort, and ownership costs, they also include the subjective side by getting feedback from owners with real-world experience of these vehicles.

In its latest survey, Consumer Reports rated 26 brands to see which ones came out on top, and for 2026, Rivian, BMW, Subaru, Tesla and Ford placed in the top five spots. But there were specific models from across the board that outperformed their stablemates, and we dug into the data to unearth which ones made their owners the happiest of all.

The Owner Satisfaction score indicates how likely an owner is to buy the same car again.

Which Vehicles Are The Most Satisfying To Own?

Owner satisfaction comprises several factors and as the data shows, logic does not always play a starring role in the decision-making process. Some of our best performers aren’t even from the brands that made the top 10 list, while others are so dismally unreliable that arriving at your destination is a bonus not a guarantee. Yet, based on a variety of assessments and owner feedback, they all performed above and beyond their owner’s expectations and these are the ones that would seriously consider buying the same car again.

3^rd Place: Land Rover Defender 88%

With a road test score of a middling 60/100 and a predicted reliability score of a scary 30/100, the Land Rover Defender was also rated low on braking, agility, fuel economy and rearward visibility. Clearly none of this bothers its owners, as its impressive off-road ability, acceleration and interior practicality shot it to third place overall in the owner satisfaction rankings. Value-for-money was the one area where some owners felt they weren’t getting as much as they expected.

As a brand, Land Rover is hopelessly unreliable, and the most expensive to maintain, yet the fact that ‘character’ was one of the high points for the Defender shows that at a certain level, none of the things that bother most commuters applies anymore.

2^nd Place: Chevrolet Corvette 88%

The C8 range took the value-for-money formula that Corvette has always majored in, and applied it to a new mid-engined platform. It is hard to imagine any rival that offers more performance for the money, and the latest models challenge supercars in outright pace. It’s no surprise then that the 2026 corvette scored a 97/100 in the Road Test segment, and it got a decent 68/100 for Predicted Reliability, too. Owners rated it highly in most segments, aside from value. There really is no pleasing some people.

It may have poor fuel economy, be difficult to get into and out of, and offer minimal rearward visibility, but none of these matter when every model in the range overdelivers where it counts in a sports car: performance.

1st Place: Rivian R1T 91%

Ford, Chevy and Ram may have the majority of the full-size truck segment all to themselves, but a relative newcomer beats them all when it comes to customer satisfaction. The Rivian R1T truck is 50% rocket ship, 50% workhorse, and 50% luxury vehicle. That adds up to 150%, and that’s because the R1T over delivers everywhere except when it comes to reliability. Its 18/100 result is close to the worst score recorded of any vehicle tested, thankfully most are still covered by the factory warranty.

But owners didn’t care about electrical glitches, or wayward drivetrains and only marked it down for its massive base price, rating it close to perfect on the driving experience, comfort and styling metrics. The final 91/100 owner satisfaction score is the highest of any vehicle for 2026. See, logic has very little to do with what makes owners love or hate their cars. Clearly a vehicle’s character still has a big impact on enjoyment, even when it comes to EVs.
