Lisa C. White was taken into custody after an investigation began Sept. 23, when Homeland Security Investigations agents received a tip from an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The ATF agent said a woman, later identified as White, had gone to High Caliber Guns, a business in Long Beach, to attempt to buy a firearm and pepper spray, according to criminal complaint filed by HSI special John Griggs.
White identified herself to an employee as a protester and activist who wanted to buy a gun to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, according to the criminal complaint.
‘I need a gun’
Federal agents interviewed employees at High Caliber Guns who said White entered the store about 11:30 a.m. Sept. 23 and said, “I need a gun.”
White told employees she wanted a firearm for protection at a protest because she believed “ICE agents are becoming crazy and wild,” according to the complaint. She also told employees she was an activist and protester.

During her interactions with employees, White gestured toward her torso and asked whether the firearms for sale would penetrate an agent’s body armor, the complaint says. If they could not, she told an employee she would need to “hit them in the head, shoulder, arm or leg.”
White looked at two high-powered pistols but left the store empty-handed after an employee declined to complete the transaction and told her she could return in two to three days, according to the complaint.
Employee reports interaction
The investigation began after store employees reported White’s actions to authorities.
White is being held without bond.
According to her Florida law license, White is in good standing and has no disciplinary history listed with the Florida Bar. She has worked as an attorney in Broward County, Florida. She became a member of the bar in Florida in October 1995.
