Woman accused of fatal stabbing in NW Marion County
A woman has been arrested on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with two stabbings on Sept. 19.

On Sept. 21, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported that the defendant, Amy Georgina Marie Hogg, was at a local hospital receiving treatment. Hogg, 33, of Crescent City, will be transported to the Marion County Jail once she’s medically cleared.
The name of the man who was fatally stabbed has not been released. He’s identified only as a 39-year-old man. The sheriff’s office said he was killed by Hogg, who is his girlfriend’s best friend.
Local records show no criminal history for Hogg.
Sheriff’s officials said the stabbing occurred at a residence along West County Road 318 near Flemington.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the location about 3:15 a.m. on Sept. 19. The report was that Hogg had repeatedly stabbed a man.
At the scene, deputies saw the man, who had suffered multiple lacerations. Hogg was detained.
Deputies treated the man until Marion County Fire Rescue arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the home, officials said.
The sheriff’s office said a woman at the home also was stabbed by Hogg and had to be treated by medical personnel.
Sheriff’s Detective Henrik Osthed interviewed the injured woman. According to his account, she said she and Hogg had been best friends for a decade, and she went to the location to pick her up because Hogg asked for help.

The woman said when she arrived, they ate, drank alcohol and played cards. After the game, the woman said, there was talking that eventually led to an argument. The woman said Hogg pushed her and the male victim separated them.
911 call
The woman went outside to smoke a cigarette, leaving the male victim and Hogg inside. Within a few minutes, the woman said, she heard the victim telling her to call 911.
The woman said she called 911 and went inside. There, she found the victim on the floor gasping for air. The woman said Hogg had stabbed the man in the back.
The trio began fighting for the knife, and the woman said Hogg stabbed her in the arm. The woman said she was able to get the knife from Hogg until deputies arrived.
The deputies on scene reported that Hogg had scratches on her arms and wrists.
Osthed listened to the 911 call, which described the scuffling and stabbing. At one point, Hogg could be heard mocking the dispatcher and cussing at the female victim, according to the detective’s report. The injured man was heard pleading with the dispatcher for help.
Hogg repeatedly told deputies she wanted a lawyer, officials said.
Osthed concluded that Hogg intentionally stabbed the deceased victim numerous times, and also stabbed her friend with the same knife.
