Why South Florida’s biggest mall is banking on the ‘scent stacking’ luxury trend

Pinterest calls it scent stacking — and Aventura Mall is all in on the youthful luxury retail trend.

According to the social media site, “Gen Z and millennials are ditching one-and-done scents for bespoke notes, blending oils and perfumes to craft their very own fragrance formulas. Expect luxury to linger in layers for the next year.”

So, the sprawling Aventura Mall, the largest in Florida and fifth largest in the country, is adding even more beauty and fragrance brand stores to its complex this fall — among them Parfums De Marly and Initio Parfums in September, Celine in October and Bulgari in November.

The newcomers join recent 2026 additions Amouage and the first Clive Christian store in the U.S. These two joined established names inside Aventura, including Creed, Jo Malone London, Aesop, Bond No. 9 and Chanel Beauty.

According to Intel Market Research, the global luxury niche perfume market was valued at $3.8 billion in 2024 and is projected to double by 2032. Credit the influence of millennial and Gen Z luxury consumers for the aromatic acceleration.

“These groups show strong willingness to invest in premium-quality products, heritage brands, and exclusive sensory experiences. Their purchasing decisions are strongly influenced by brand storytelling, craftsmanship, and authenticity, which align closely with the value proposition of niche perfumery,” Intel researchers reported in 2025.

Barbara Herman, founder of Eris Parfums and author of “Scent & Subversion,” told Forbes in January that the post-modern fragrance movement’s roots date back about 30 years. “From the mid-‘90s to the 2000s, brands like Comme des Garçons and Demeter were deconstructing perfume. These scent experts experimented with ‘weird,’ unconventional smells not usually included in perfumes.”

One such fragrance by Mark Buxton apparently smelled like a “flower ripped apart and glued back together with a hot iron,” Forbes reported. Herman called these “representational perfumes.” Think of this as “scents that evoke an idea, an object or a feeling,” Forbes explained.

It’s not just brick and mortar landmarks like Aventura that are keeping up with the trend. Online searches for “niche perfume collection” are up 500%, according to the Pinterest Scent Stacking report.

TikTok Shop beauty sales exploded during the first quarter of 2026, growing more than 80%, according to Tubefilter, a digital media company that covers the creator economy, YouTube, and the online video industry. The top 25 best-selling beauty brands on TikTok Shop collectively generated $512.8 million in revenue during a year-long period that ended in June.

But Aventura Mall is banking on the expected growth trend through 2026.

“Aventura Mall is constantly evolving in order to include experiences at the leading edge of shopping, dining and culture,” said the mall’s owner Jackie Soffer, chairman and chief executive officer of Turnberry. “Our guests appreciate the juxtaposition of iconic brands with new, innovative concepts and that certainly extends to beauty where we have seen an explosion of interest.”

Other new arrivals

In addition to the scent-related stores, the Aventura fall lineup of fashion, wellness and lifestyle openings include one of Miami’s first two Uniqlo stores —the other will be on the refurbishing Lincoln Road in Miami Beach — Bershka’s first store in the U.S. and Revolve’s first brick and mortar store in Florida.

Also coming to Aventura: Missoni, On, Wilson, FIGS, SuitSupply, Gorjana, BYLT and Neko Health.

The Abbey, the mall’s next-door retail complex, recently opened Lola + The Boys and upcoming 2026 arrivals include Feulard Aesthetic Lab.

“Being committed to presenting what consumers want in real time means applying disciplined curation and deep market intelligence,” soffer said, “so we are excited about the range of beauty brands and self-care experiences joining Aventura Mall.”
