Who is the NFL wife Kylie Kelce calls ‘so impressive’ for her work in women’s sports?
The term WAG was born in Europe as a reference to the Wives And Girlfriends of soccer players. But that acronym has been used a lot in the United States now, often when talking about the partners of NFL players.

And it drives Kylie Kelce nuts.
Kelce, who is married to former Eagles center Jason Kelce, talked about the term WAG last week while on the “IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson” podcast.
“It has skewed the idea of what it means to be there to support your significant other or spouse,” Kelce said, “and I always felt like the term WAG itself reduced the women to being defined by the role that their husband held. And that bothered me because what happens when he’s done? But then what do you guys talk about? Cause, like, I know what it looked like in our house. Jason would come home. I’d say how was work. He’d recap maybe one or two things, but it’s not like we’re sitting at the dinner table talking X’s and O’s.”
Kelce noted there were many accomplished women who supported Eagles players when he would watch Jason Kelce play.
“I was fortunate on the Eagles. We had lawyers, nurses, educators,” she said. “We had these women who seriously accomplished in their own right. Incredible women, giving back to their community, working in difficult jobs, in difficult fields. And I’m like, ‘Don’t reduce yourself to get in line with him. You have your own stuff going on.’ I was always really excited about the women with the Eagles, and never wanted them to be diminished.”

Later in the discussion, Kelce used an example of a wife of a current NFL superstar: Brittany Mahomes.
As a co-owner of the Kansas City Current soccer team, Mahomes helped the team build the first soccer-specific stadium for a women’s team in the world. She also is on the NWSL advisory board.
Earlier this year, Mahomes was given United WE’s “Champion for Change” award.
“Brittany Mahomes is a great example of what she’s done for women’s sports and women’s soccer, specifically in the Kansas City area, is so impressive,” Kelce said. “And so, like again, just like reducing things that women have going on, I find it underwhelming. I would far rather hear about the stories of how they’re impacting their community, what jobs they hold, what they focused on, what their interests were personally.”
