Where the Miami Hurricanes rank in AP poll after win over Wake Forest

The Miami Hurricanes continued their strong start to the season with a 33-20 road win at Wake Forest on Friday to stay undefeated early in the season.

It wasn’t enough to keep them as a top-five team in the AP top 25 poll.

Miami checked in at No. 6 in the latest poll, released Sunday afternoon. UM was No. 5 last week after opening the season at No. 7 in the poll.

Ole Miss jumped Miami, moving up four spots to No. 4 after defeating LSU on Saturday.

The Hurricanes (3-0, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) used a record-setting start from quarterback Darian Mensah, who completed the first 24 passes he threw, to build a 31-7 lead against Wake Forest and then a strong fourth-quarter performance from the defense to seal the win.

Texas, Georgia and Notre Dame stayed in the top three spots, followed by Ole Miss at No. 4 and Indiana at No. 5.

Miami, Ohio State, Alabama, BYU and LSU round out the top 10.

Miami is one of three ACC teams in the top 25, along with No. 16 Louisville and No. 22 SMU.

The Hurricanes host Central Michigan (2-1) at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday (6:30 p.m., the CW).
