Authorities arrested the alleged owner Friday, reports say.
Kevin Alexander Benjamin, 27, is facing a charge of animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill, according to jail records. As of Saturday, he still sits in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
Earlier this week, the video of the gray-and-white, medium-sized dog was shared thousands of times across social media, including Instagram, X and TikTok. The dog was allegedly trapped on a balcony at ParkLine Miami, a luxury apartment high-rise with units that rent for more than $4,000.
Miami-Dade County Animal Services told NBC6 South Florida the owner was arrested, although the agency did not name the person. The dog was also recovered.
Benjamin was charged Friday with animal abuse, and he resides at ParkLine Miami, according to databases.
He is a musician who goes by DJ KB, his social media profile shows. He listed Vendôme Miami and Mona Club as two nightclubs where he works. Neither establishment immediately responded for comment.

Cata Balzano, an influencer who’s driven the online discourse over the abuse video, shared a video of Benjamin’s Friday arrest by Miami police, who did not immediately respond to a request for his arrest report.
Vendôme told Balzano that Benjamin was fired and banned from performing at the venue.
“We have zero tolerance for animal abuse,” the club wrote in a message to Balzano.
Hundreds commented on the posts, overjoyed at the dog’s rescue and hoping it will find a home.
“Holy! We so rarely get the justice! Thank god the dog is safe now, and the owner will face actual charges,” one Instagram user commented.
