Two kids on a bike seriously injured in hit-and-run, Miami-Dade deputies say

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run crash that sent two young bicyclists to the hospital Wednesday night, the agency said.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. at Northeast 117th Street and Seventh Avenue, the sheriff’s office said. A boy and girl were lying on the road when they arrived, and both were unresponsive.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics took them to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Detective said Joseph Peguero Rivera, a sheriff’s office spokesman. The sheriff’s office did not provide their ages.

Deputies say the driver was traveling north on Northwest Seventh Avenue when he or she made a turn onto 117th Street and struck the boy and girl, who were on a bike.

Sheriff’s office traffic homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information to call 305-471-8477.
