Trinidad Chambliss Sends ‘Weird’ Message About Facing Lane Kiffin, LSU

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss faced the coach who brought him to the Rebels in LSU Tigers’ Lane Kiffin, and the passer acknowledged after the game that the reunion carried more weight than any other matchup he’s been part of.

On Saturday, Chambliss led No. 8 Ole Miss to a 32-24 victory over No. 7 LSU in Kiffin’s return to Oxford, scoring three total touchdowns, two passing and one rushing, as the Rebels improved to 3-0.

Speaking with ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the game, Chambliss admitted seeing Kiffin and other former Ole Miss coaches wearing LSU colors felt “weird.”

“It was a little weird seeing him on the other sideline and seeing other coaches,” Chambliss said. “But it is what it is. We’re competitors at the end of the day. It’s just a football game, but I’m glad we got the win.”

“This one meant a lot more than other games,” Chambliss said. “I wanted this one bad.”

Chambliss’ performance was on par with the game’s high stakes, with the Rebels’ passer completing 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns against just one interception. He added two rushing yards on nine carries.

Ole Miss built a 24-7 advantage, but LSU erased that deficit in the second half, tying the game at 24 and putting the ball back in Chambliss’ hands with the outcome hanging in the balance.

The quarterback then led a 75-yard drive and ultimately scored the go-ahead touchdown himself on a 14-yard run. Ole Miss added a two-point conversion before its defense stopped LSU’s final possession with a fourth-and-goal interception.

Ole Miss travels to Gainesville next Saturday to face undefeated Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET.
