Outstanding performances for the victorious Sabres were from:
Daniel Gutierrez: 1st in the 100 free and 1st in the 100 breast.
Emmanuel Pérez Falcón: 1st in the 100 back and 2nd in the 200 IM.
Brayden Cachinero: 1st in the 50 free.
Melanie Cabral: 2nd in the 100 back.
Alejandro Ferre: 3rd in the 100 fly.
Chloe Rodríguez: 3rd in the 100 back.
Daniel Medina: 3rd in the 100 breast.
Ella Silva: 3rd in the 100 breast.
Golf
The Belen Jesuit boys’ golf team hosted the 2026 Wolverine Classic at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club, bringing together 10 teams and 49 golfers.
The Wolverines finished runner-up with a team score 302, eight shots behind winner Miami Country Day.
Belen was led by Marley Caudle ’28, who fired a 1-over 72 to finish runner-up to Miami Country Day junior Marek Majercak, the winner with even par 71.
Belen had another strong showing with 8th grader Thomas Zur ’31 continuing his impressive start to his varsity career with a 75 and a Top 10 finish (T-8th), while Ryan Nieto ’27 shot 77, and Matthew Gonzalez ’27 shot 78 to round out the Wolverines’ four counting scores.
Also competing for the Wolverines were Luke Mofsky ’30, Benjamin Liguori ’27, Lorenzo Magarino ’27, Ralphy Villoldo ’27, and Christopher Moya ’29, with Mofsky shooting a 79, giving Belen five players in the 70s.
The 10-team field included Belen Jesuit, Miami Country Day, Archbishop McCarthy, Westminster Christian, True North, Doral Academy, Immaculata-LaSalle, Riviera Prep, and Florida Christian, with the Wolverines also fielding a second team.
Belen returns to action September 18-19 at the South Florida PGA East High School Championship at Boca West Country Club.
Football
The Archbishop Carroll football team scored with 42 seconds remaining to hand American its first loss of the season, 28-27.
Running back Justin Matias barreled his way into the endzone from the 3-yard line to record his second touchdown of the game, tying the contest at 27. Dylan Briand, who was 4-of-4 on PATS, kicked the winning extra point for the host Bulldogs (3-1).

American (3-1) mounted one last attempt, but its drive fell short at the Archbishop Carroll 30-yard line.
Archbishop Carroll rushed for 337 yards on 58 carries. Matias finished with 138 yards on 23 carries, and Marcelo Carrion added 104 yards on 16 attempts. Kendru Pembleton and Rodney Zamora added touchdowns.
Linebackers Joel Rodrigez and Isaiah Suarez paced the Bulldogs’ defense with 7 tackles apiece.
Archbishop Carroll will host undefeated LaSalle (4-0) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Bowling
The TERRA girls’ bowling team improved to 4-0 after a 5-2 victory over Ferguson at Bird Bowl in Miami.
Team captain Tatiana Chin led the way, totaling 479 pins in three games. She helped the Wolver amass 1,823 pins.
In the boys’ competition, Ferguson edged TERRA 4-3.
Paul Fernandez, a TERRA junior, recorded a personal best 254 pins in Game 2. He totaled 539 pins in the match. Teammate Mathew Cordoba, also a junior, scored 566 pins.
