Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky signs multiyear extension

The San Jose Sharks signed head coach Ryan Warsofsky to a multiyear contract extension on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.

Warsofsky, 38, is entering his third season behind the bench and remains the NHL’s youngest active head coach. He helped the Sharks improve from 52 points (20-50-12) in 2024-25 to 86 points (39-35-8) last season, the franchise’s best finish since 2018-19.

Warsofsky brought a track record of success to the post when he was named the Sharks’ 11th full-time coach on June 13, 2024, promoted from assistant coach.

He earned an IIHF World Championship gold medal as head coach of Team USA in 2025 and a Calder Cup title as head coach of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves in 2021-22.

San Jose opens the regular season at home against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 1.
