Roy Keane & Gary Neville Blast JJ Gabriel’s Representatives Over Manchester United Exit Reports

The 15-year-old is said to be keen to leave Manchester United after being approached by a number of top European sides. It was also particularly interesting because Gabriel had been tipped for the first team.
Gary Neville Questions JJ Gabriel’s Representatives
Neville’s criticism was directed at Gabriel’s representatives, not at Gabriel himself. The former Manchester United defender, speaking on Stick to Football, asked how the news of the youngster’s transfer situation got out.
“There was this big announcement from a prominent journalist that’s obviously been leaked,” Neville said, arguing that Manchester United would have little reason to release such information.
Then, Neville explained the strategy as the “nuclear option.”
“They’ve decided they want to go the nuclear option,” he said, adding that his concern was “who’s representing him” and whether the strategy was good for Gabriel.
Neville also cited the example of young Arsenal star Max Dowman, who has been shielded from too much attention. He said Gabriel’s agents should be trying to “douse the flames” instead of putting the youngster “in lights” at this early stage.
Roy Keane Tells JJ Gabriel To Be Patient
Keane was concerned about Gabriel’s age and the strain that is currently being put on Manchester United. The former captain asked why the teenager should rush the situation when he had the chance.
“Are you telling me he can’t wait?” Keane asked. He then delivered a blunt message: “If you are 15 years of age and you’re talking about playing for Man Utd’s first team, just wait.”
Keane said Gabriel could wait another six weeks and that Manchester United are too under pressure to sacrifice results for inexperienced players.
“Carrick’s under pressure,” Keane said, pointing to United’s need for victories and momentum.
The disagreement is because Gabriel’s future is still uncertain. His father, former Republic of Ireland international Joe O’Cearuill, is reportedly representing him, and clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea have all shown interest.
For now, Neville and Keane’s comments have added another layer to a transfer saga involving one of United’s most highly regarded young prospects.
