Pumpkin spice season is back. Find a taste of fall in Daytona, Flagler

Fall may arrive quietly in Florida, but local menus are already leaning into the season.

From warmly spiced desserts and autumn-inspired cocktails to limited-time dishes and festive craft beers, restaurants and bars across the Daytona Beach area are finding flavorful ways to welcome the cooler days – or at least pretend they’re on the way.

For those looking to enjoy a taste of fall, check out these dining spots from New Smyrna to Flagler Beach.

CorkScrew Bar & Grille

Whether making the most of the season with a date night, family dinner or solo meal, CorkScrew has more than enough autumn additions to keep customers planning their next visit.

Meat entrees include the ribeye pot roast – a slow-roasted USDA ribeye sautéed with heirloom carrots, onions and peas in a savory brown gravy, topped with Boursin whipped potatoes and chives; and the Apple Chutney Pork Ribeye – a sweet tea-brined, 10-ounce pork ribeye topped with apple cinnamon chutney and served with chargrilled heirloom carrots and smoked gouda grits.

Other entrees include the Harvest Blackened Salmon – house-cut Faroe Island salmon served over garlic smashed potatoes and charred Brussels sprout hash with feta cheese and bacon in a black Amarena cherry balsamic reduction; and the Craisin Kale Salad – kale, quinoa, roasted butternut squash, walnuts, Craisins and a house-made rosemary-maple-bourbon balsamic.

Seasonal sides range from Parmesan-panko-truffle-butter mac and cheese to parmesan garlic smashed potatoes, while the fall dessert menu features a house-made apple cobbler.

Dutch Bros Coffee

Dutch Bros Coffee went full force into fall at the end of August when the national chain brought back its most popular lineup of seasonal flavors – and introduced some new ones.

Available while supplies last, the Caramel Pumpkin Brûlée features pumpkin, salted caramel, “Soft Top,” pumpkin drizzle and raw sugar “sprinks” and is available as a breve, latte, chai or Freeze.

The Cookie Butter, served as a latte, Freeze or chai, showcases Dutch Bros’ creamy cookie butter flavoring, a cookie butter swirl around the cup, “Soft Top” and cookie butter drizzle.

The new Autumn Berry, described as “a vibrantly crisp drink,” features pomegranate, orange and peach flavors with a mixed berry fruit topping, according to Dutch Bros’ website, and is available as a blended or iced Rebel energy drink or Myst Energy Refresher.

Horizons Home to Kingdom cookies

For those who prefer a good chocolate chunk cookie, Horizons delivers big with not only the classics but a plethora of newly released seasonal sweets stocking its display cases.

The Ormond-by-the-Sea bakery of less than four months serves an array of well-portioned, scratch-made cookies, from its signature sea salt chocolate chunk to newer options, like pumpkin snickerdoodle, Biscoff cookie butter and pumpkin spice.

The family-owned shop also serves homemade cinnamon rolls and pumpkin rolls – available until Thanksgiving – as well as a fall coffee menu, with each drink served iced, hot or frozen. Options range from the Salted Caramel White Chocolate Mocha and Pumpkin Spice Latte to the Maple Cinnamon Roll Latte, Toasted Hazelnut Latte and Salty Turtle Mocha.

Mama Cannoli

While traditional custard-filled lobster tails, Italian rum cake and rugelach might fill the pastry cases, it’s no secret that this South Daytona bakery is best known for its cannoli.

In October, alongside its signature chocolate chip, cookie dough and pistachio flavors, the shop will reintroduce its Pumpkin Pie Cannoli – a seasonal favorite dusted with cinnamon graham cracker crumbs.

Mama Cannoli also recently expanded its coffee menu with autumn-inspired additions, including its Pumpkin Pie and Maple Brown Sugar lattes, each available hot or iced.

Norwood’s Restaurant & Treehouse Bar

Because fall doesn’t only mean pumpkin-spiced sweets, Norwood’s is now pouring autumn by the glass with its latest seasonal cocktail lineup, featuring freshly squeezed juices, house-made simple syrups and infused liquors.

Try the Beeting Heart – beet-infused vodka and cranberry mint simple syrup; the Get Figgy With It – vanilla, fig-infused rum, amaro and sweet vermouth; or the Apple of My Spice – rum, triple sec and apple cider cordial.

Other options range from the Rocky Horror – tequila, blood orange simple, fresh lime and pineapple; to the Oh My Gourd – tequila, espresso, Licor 43 and pumpkin cinnamon simple; and the 9-5 – barrel-aged Negroni with gin, amaro and sweet-vermouth.

Mocktails are also available, according to Norwood’s social media.

Playa Bowls

Acai may feel like a summer staple, but Playa Bowls begs to differ this season, giving the full fall treatment to its frozen menu. The Jersey-based, wellness-rooted brand made its local debut earlier this year with stores in New Smyrna and Daytona Beach.

Here, guests can now enjoy several autumn-inspired menu additions, including the Happy Pumpkin Acai Bowl – Playa acai base topped with blueberry flax granola, banana, pumpkin butter drizzle, coco whip, pumpkin spice and a chocolate hazelnut Jack-o-lantern garnish.

Other options include the Apple Cinnamon Crunch Bowl – Playa acai base topped with fresh apples, blueberry flax granola, sliced bananas, walnuts, cinnamon and peanut butter drizzle; and the Banana Cream Pumpkin Pie Smoothie – banana, blueberry flax granola, pumpkin butter, pumpkin spice and coconut milk all layered on top of coco whip.

The Pony Bar

Known for its decadent dirty sodas, lemonades and coffee beverages, The Pony Bar is putting its own spin on morning pick-me-ups this season. The Port Orange shop recently released its fall menu with all the caramel drizzle, pumpkin spice and cookie butter customers could crave.

Latte options range from the Pumpkin Banana Bread – pumpkin sauce, banana, brown sugar and hazelnut syrups, pumpkin cold foam and cinnamon powder; to the Salted Caramel Swirl – caramel sauce, vanilla cream and caramel syrups, vanilla cold foam and caramel drizzle.

Dirty sodas include the Cider Sipper – ginger ale, apple and caramel syrups, whipped cream and apple cider sprinkles; and the Pumpkin Patch – Dr Pepper, pumpkin pie and vanilla syrups, caramel cold foam and a candy pumpkin.

Other options range from the S’mores Frappe to the Butter Pecan Mocha, Hocus Pocus Lemonade and Salem Soda.

Rosie’s Italian Deli, Market and Bakery

Rosie’s may have recently landed a top spot among The News-Journal’s favorite sandwich shops, but its bakery isn’t to be overlooked – especially this time of year.

The local shop recently released several sweets to celebrate the season, including its homemade pumpkin cheesecake, available for pre-order and prepared with Rosie’s signature pecan crust. Other options include Pumpkin Cream Cheese Blondies, Cucidadi (Italian fig cookies), Pumpkin Spiced Latte Cannoli and Jumbo Powder or Chocolate Dipped Almond Horns.

Rosie’s also offers a plethora of take-and-bake meals, particularly popular for gatherings this time of year, including its homemade lasagna, meatballs and stuffed shells.

Treats & Sweets Cakery

For more than a decade, Treats & Sweets Cakery has proven itself as a local staple for custom cakes, cupcakes and other sweets suited for any occasion.

Recently, the South Daytona bakery released its “Fall into Sweets” menu, featuring a spread of 12 different autumn-inspired cupcakes.

Options include, but are not limited to, the Apple Cider Cinnamon – spice cake and apple cider frosting topped with cinnamon sugar; the Coconut Caramel Cheesecake – coconut cake stuffed with cheesecake filling and topped with caramel buttercream, streusel crumble and toasted coconut; and the Chocolate Pecan Pie – chocolate cake filled with pecan pie filling and topped with maple buttercream and toasted pecans.

Typsy Unicorn’s Brewing

Already known for its house-brewed beers, this Edgewater brewpub is tapping into sweater weather with new seasonal sips on tap, courtesy of co-owner and brewmaster JR Rivera.

During the quirky joint’s packed schedule of trivia nights, karaoke and Halloween parties, guests can enjoy a balanced and bright wild berry graham cracker sour (4.9%) and a more mellow pumpkin cheesecake blonde ale (4.6%).

The shop offers a 3-5 p.m. happy hour during the week.

The Waffle Cone

Since fall in Florida doesn’t exactly mean chilly temperatures, it’s as good a time as any to enjoy a milkshake or a few sweet scoops – and The Waffle Cone has tempting new flavors.

The Flagler Beach shop offers at least 60 different ice cream flavors – including dairy-free, sugar-free and gluten-free options – as well as floats, shakes, soft serve and sundaes.

September’s seasonal creations include the Pumpkin Espresso Milkshake – a blend of pumpkin and espresso topped with caramel drizzle, whipped cream and a cinnamon dusting; and the Apple Pie Sundae – vanilla ice cream topped with warm apple filling, caramel drizzle, whipped cream and a cinnamon dusting all in a homemade waffle bowl.
