Pine Crest, Ransom Everglades excel in golf. Plus bowling, football, swimming, volleyball

Nina Fischer of the Ransom Everglades girls’ golf team won the sixth annual Palm League Championship at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.

Fischer, who shot 4-under par 67, won on a playoff against Pine Crest’s Harper Kiss, who also shot 67.

Pine Crest won the team title at 4-over 288 with Ransom Everglades the runner-up six strokes back.

Danielle Hernandez of Palmer Trinity was third at 68, and Esha Nagalla of Ransom Everglades finished fourth at even-par 71.

In the boys’ division, Ransom Everglades was also second at 1-under 283, three shots behind champion North Palm Beach Benjamin. This marked the Raiders best finish at this event, topping last year’s previous best 296 by 13 strokes.

Individually, Andrew Tsar of Benjamin beat Cole Durham of Ransom Everglades in a playoff, after each fired 2-under 69.

Ransom Everglades teammates Axel Monssoh and Victor Monssoh tied for third at 70 with Brooks Colton of Benjamin, Matthew Stigliano of Benjamin and Dylan Shapiro of Gulliver Prep.

Zachary Fischer rounded out the Raider scoring with a solid 4-over (+3) to tie for 18th.

Note: the field featured some of the top 1A and 2A high school golf teams in South Florida, including top-ranked Benjamin boys.

The Ferguson girls’ bowling team improved to 6-1 with a 7-0 victory over Gulliver Prep.

Angelie Brito led the Falcons with a 177 high game and a 488 high series. Teammates Sarah Villanueva (181 high game) and Katherine Sánchez-Más (135 high game) also helped lead the way.

The Coral Park boys’ team is 5-0 after a decisive 7-0 win over Braddock.
