NFL Sideline Reporter Lisa Salters Stripped of Hall of Fame Vote

NFL sideline reporter Lisa Salters will not have a Pro Football Hall of Fame vote moving forward.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio is cutting a lot of its voting pool. There was a lot of controversy last year, when legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick was not voted in. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is making changes to its voting pool, going down from 50 voters to 28 voters.

Several prominent voters have already announced that they will not be getting a vote moving forward.

“It was a privilege serving on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and representing Houston, the Oilers and Texans, but I was told I didn’t make the cut from 50 to 28, including 3 non-voting members, under the new by-laws. Among the changes, no city or team will have a representative and no more individual presentations for finalists will be made. Thank you to the Hall of Fame for having me as a small part of the process for more than 3 decades,” John McClain announced.

“As a member of the Selection Committee for 33 years, I take great pride in presenting Oilers Elvin Bethea, Robert Brazile, Curley Culp, Warren Moon, Mike Munchak and Bruce Matthews, Texans Andre Johnson and the Cowboys Chuck Howley. I’d like to thank the Hall and all those hard-working Committee members I served with for more than 3 decades. I salute you all. And good luck to everyone who survived the cut and still have the enormous responsibility of selecting the new class every year.”

Lisa Salters is now on the list, too.

Tennessee’s Paul Kuharsky revealed that he was among those who have had their vote cut, while Salters, a veteran NFL sideline reporter who has covered the league for decades, will be stripped of her vote, too.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame released a statement on Belichick’s snubbing last year.

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame understands and respects the passionate reaction of many fans, media members and enshrinees of the Hall itself in light of published reports regarding the voting results for the Class of 2026,” the Hall said. “It’s that very passion that propels the game. The Hall also respects the members of the Selection Committee when they follow the selection process bylaws. It is an honor to serve as a selector.

“Each year, the Hall reviews the selection process and the composition of the 50-person Selection Committee. If it is determined that any member(s) violated the selection

process bylaws, they understand action will be taken. That could include the possibility that such selector(s) would not remain a member of the committee moving forward.

“The selection of a new class is the most important duty the Hall of Fame oversees each year, and the integrity of that process cannot be in question.”

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has since changed its process.
