Miami faces possible flooding and feels-like 105 degrees. Check details

A week of heat advisories is giving way to a week of wet and potentially flooding conditions in the Miami area.

It’s always something in the South Florida summer, right?

Here’s what we know so far for the first week of August.

“Our highest rain chances of the week will favor Monday and Tuesday afternoons and evenings with a 50-60% chance for showers and storms,” CBS News Miami meteorologist Shane Hinton said on Monday. Some flooding is possible.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami the peak times for showers and thunderstorms is between 4 and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, when chances hit 70%.

The heat index — what it feels like considering air temperature and humidity — will be at its peak 100 degrees at the time, too low to trigger an advisory. The high temperature will reach 90, then dip as clouds move in.

Wednesday and Thursday continue the rainy pattern, around 50%-60% chance, with highs of 87 and a feels-like heat index of 101.

Friday feels the same, but the rain ramps up in Miami to 70%.

What about the weekend weather in South Florida?

Saturday still faces 50% storm chances but the heat ticks up a bit to 89 and a feels-like 105 between 3 and 5 p.m., which could trigger a heat advisory.

Sunday eases off the rain — 40% between 2 and 6 p.m. — and another sticky near-90 day with possible 105 feels-like temperatures.

The good news?

The tropics are clear. No tropical storm or hurricane activity is likely for the next seven days, the National Hurricane Center said on Monday.
