Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies shot a man while serving a warrant Friday morning in North Beach, the head of the South Florida police union said.

The shooting happened on the 700 block of 81st Street, just south of Surfside, the sheriff’s office said.
A person at the house confronted sheriff’s office tactical deputies with a weapon, “and unfortunately, the officers had no other choice but to discharge their firearms to defend themselves,” said Steadman Stahl, president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association.
