Key West officer arrested for driving under the influence, police say
A Key West police officer was arrested early Sunday while off-duty for allegedly driving under the influence, according to a department spokesperson.

Shortly after 5 a.m., Key West Police Department supervisors responded to a citizen complaint about a vehicle in the area of Peary Court, spokesperson Shannon Perzel said in the statement.
Police found Officer Dustin Christina seated in the driver’s seat of the parked vehicle, Perzel said, and a supervising officer determined there was probable cause to arrest him on a DUI charge.

Christina was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Detention Center. There was no information available Sunday afternoon about his bond status, and he didn’t have an attorney listed yet.
“The Key West Police Department holds its officers to the same standards of the law as any member of the public,” Perzel said in the statement.
