Joe Mangianello writes Sofia Vergara’s ex put ‘curse’ on him amid mystery illness

You can’t accuse Joe Mangianello of not being transparent.

The 49-year-old actor’s new memoir “Bloodlines” is quite the tell-all, with some jaw-dropping revelations, mostly about himself.

The biggest shocker was the “Magic Mike” hunk’s documenting of a devastating autoimmune disorder that almost destroyed his digestive tract. He never got a conclusive diagnosis about the mysterious malady, whose symptoms began in 2016 about a year after he married Sofia Vergara, 54.

Unbeknownst to the outside world, the “brutal” illness, which led to the emergency removal of his large intestine, lasted about the entire duration of their seven-year marriage. Mangianello claims to be currently recovered and is now engaged to influencer Caitlin O’Connor, 37.

Part of “Bloodlines” has a bizarre local connection. In one widely shared excerpt, Mangianello mentions his animosity toward Vergara’s former fiancé, Delray Beach native Nick Loeb. For years, the businessman/wannabe Florida politician fought to save the frozen embryos he created with the “Modern Family” star during their 2010-14 relationship. The right to live case was dismissed in 2017.

The ongoing legal troubles compounded the stress the Hollywood couple was already dealing with and things almost took a really wrong turn, Mangianello admits.

“At one point a very close friend of mine who happens to have top level contacts in the private security world offered me the opportunity, no questions asked, to have this guy snatched off the street, blindfolded, hog-tied, thrown in the back of a van, and driven deep into a wooded area where he would first be warned, then beaten within an inch of his life, and left to fend for himself in the wild,” reads the excerpt.

The violent scenario never took place because the “True Blood” alum said he feared “karmic retribution.”

Loeb is again mentioned later in the book when the ailing actor sought help from a Cuban shaman who told him over the phone he believed one of Vergara’s exes put a “voodoo curse” on him. Mangianello wrote that he assumed it was “the guy she was with right before me.”

The Miami Herald reached out to Loeb, who has since relocated to Westchester County, New York, but did not immediately hear back, but he did release a statement to Page Six:

“I pray they find Jesus — not another shaman,” he said.
