If you’re planning a weekend road trip or just commuting to work, you’ll continue to see higher prices at the gas pump.

The cost of gas on Sept. 18 is 20 cents higher in Florida from the start of the week, when gas already spiked by double digits from the week before. The average gas price crossed the $4 barrier this week, and has now reached about $4.50 in some parts of South Florida.
Here’s what to know:
Gas prices in South Florida
Miami-Dade: The average price: $4.27 on Friday, Sept. 18, a 14-cent increase since Monday, according to AAA.
Fort Lauderdale: $4.36, a 19-cent increase since Monday.
West Palm Beach/Boca Raton: $4.46, an 18-cent increase since Monday.
Florida Keys: $4.53, an 18-cent increase since Monday.
Florida price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida on Friday, Sept. 18, according to AAA, is $4.33, a 20-cent increase since Monday.

U.S. price at the pump
Average: The average price for a gallon of gas across the country on Friday, Sept. 4, according to AAA, is $4.46, a 15-cent increase since Monday.
How to find cheap gas near you
There’s an app to help: The GasBuddy app was built to show motorists prices around them and a fuel tracker can update users on stations that have or don’t have fuel based on supply changes.
